An excellent opportunity exists for a Banking & Finance Lawyer (2–3 PQE) with strong mortgage and loan documentation experience to join a specialist lending services team in Sydney. You’ll work closely with an experienced practice lead, contributing to high-quality documentation and advisory work supporting lending transactions across a diverse client base.
This is an ideal role for a detail-oriented finance lawyer who enjoys technical work and wants responsibility early in their career.
The Opportunity You will focus on front-end mortgage documentation and lending support, working on:
Preparation, review and negotiation of loan and security documentation
Mortgage and charge documentation across commercial and residential portfolios
Supporting syndicate and bilateral lending arrangements
Advice on secured and structured finance documentation
Coordination with lenders, borrowers, brokers, registries and counsel
Ensuring documentation compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
You’ll be expected to draft and refine documentation with precision while working closely with senior lawyers on bespoke finance matters.
What You’ll Be Doing
Drafting, reviewing and advising on:
Loan agreements
Mortgage and charge instruments
Guarantees, indemnities and security packages
Collaborating with teams on legal due diligence and risk allocation
Communicating with clients and stakeholders to progress documentation efficiently
Supporting structured lending transactions and refinancings
Maintaining strong file management and documentation standards
About You We are seeking a lawyer with:
2–3 years’ PQE in banking and finance or commercial law
Experience in loan and mortgage documentation
Excellent drafting, technical and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
A commercial mindset with clear communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a team
A proactive approach and strong organisational ability
You should be comfortable handling documentation tasks autonomously while escalating strategic issues appropriately.
