Banking & Finance Lawyer/Associate (Melb)

Solicitor / Associate | Banking & Finance

Top-tier Quality Work | 6.75 Billable Target | Leading National Firm

Are you a Banking & Finance lawyer looking for the elusive "sweet spot" in the Melbourne market? Join a powerhouse team that combines the high-caliber transactions of a global firm with a down-to-earth culture and a genuine work-life balance.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Solicitor or Associate (2+ years PQE) to join our thriving Banking & Finance practice in the Melbourne CBD. Working directly with industry-leading Partners, you will play a key role in complex, high-value transactions for a blue-chip client base.

This isn't a role where you’ll be buried in the back room. With a lean Solicitor-to-Partner ratio, you will enjoy direct client contact and a platform to build your professional profile from day one.

What’s in it for you?

  • Realistic Targets: A highly achievable 6.75 billable hour target, allowing you to deliver quality work without the burnout.

  • Hybrid Flexibility: Work from home 2 days per week.

  • Market-Leading Parental Leave: 26 weeks of paid leave.

  • Clear Bonus Structure: A transparent, tenure-linked bonus scheme based on your PQE level and hitting your billable targets.

  • Career Fast-Track: 180-day career planning sessions designed to promote talent based solely on merit.

The Work

You will advise the Big 4 domestic banks, credit funds, and major corporate borrowers on a diverse range of matters, including:

  • Property and Construction Finance

  • Bilateral, Club, and Syndicated Lending

  • Acquisition and Agri-Finance

  • Retirement and Aged Care Financing

About You

We are looking for a collaborative, commercially-minded lawyer who is ready to take the next step in their career.

  • Experience: 2+ years PQE within a recognized Banking & Finance practice (Australian or NZ candidates highly encouraged).

  • Background: Experience in a mid-tier or top-tier law firm environment.

  • Skills: Exceptional drafting skills, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to manage transactions efficiently.

  • Mindset: An appetite to mentor juniors and a desire to work in a high-performing, friendly team culture.

Ready to elevate your career? If you are looking for a firm that values merit over "time in the chair," we want to hear from you.
