Banking & Finance Lawyer/Associate (Melb)

Solicitor / Associate | Banking & Finance | Top-Tier National Firm

Are you a Banking & Finance lawyer looking to step away from the "standard" big-firm bureaucracy and into a high-performance meritocracy?

We are representing the largest legal partnership in Australia, a firm that has redefined the legal landscape through rapid growth and a pragmatic, commercial approach. They are currently seeking a motivated Solicitor or Associate to join their premier Banking & Finance team in Melbourne.

The Opportunity

You will work directly with industry-leading Partners on complex, high-value transactions. This isn't a role where you’ll be buried in the back room; you will be client-facing and instrumental in managing deals from inception to completion.

Your portfolio will include:

  • Diverse Lending: Bilateral, club, and syndicated lending transactions.

  • Sector Breadth: Property and construction finance, agri-finance, acquisition finance, and aged care/retirement living.

  • Elite Client Base: Acting for all Big 4 domestic banks, major non-bank lenders, and international financiers.

What’s in it for you?

  • Fast-Tracked Progression: This firm operates as a true meritocracy. With 180-day career planning sessions and a lower Solicitor-to-Partner ratio than their competitors, your path to Senior Associate or Partner is based on talent, not "time served."

  • Mentorship & Culture: Benefit from a "down-to-earth" culture where Partners are accessible. You will also have the chance to pay it forward by mentoring a high-achieving junior cohort.

  • Flexibility & Environment: Work from state-of-the-art Melbourne CBD offices with modern end-of-trip facilities and genuine flexible work arrangements.

About You

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a sharp commercial lens. You should bring:

  • 2+ years PAE within a recognized Banking & Finance practice (local or international).

  • Technical Excellence: Strong drafting skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Autonomy: The ability to manage transactions efficiently and maintain direct client relationships.

  • Collaborative Spirit: An appetite to contribute to a high-performing team and help grow the junior staff.

How to Apply

If you are ready to elevate your career within a firm that values impact and efficiency over tradition, we want to hear from you.

Note: All applications are handled with strict confidentiality. Join a firm where your work is recognized on a national stage and your career trajectory is in your own hands.
