Associate – Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution (2–4 PQE)

We're partnering with a highly regarded Canberra law firm to recruit an Associate (2–4 years' PQE) to join its growing Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of commercial, property and planning disputes while receiving genuine mentoring, early responsibility and direct client exposure.
You'll join a collaborative and supportive team that values technical excellence, commercial thinking and practical outcomes for clients.
The Opportunity
In this role, you'll work across a broad range of litigation and dispute resolution matters, with responsibilities including:
- Managing your own matters with appropriate supervision and support
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Conducting legal research and providing strategic advice on complex issues
- Drafting correspondence, pleadings, court documents and other litigation materials
- Gathering, analysing and managing evidence
- Preparing for and attending court appearances, mediations and hearings
- Participating in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes
- Delivering practical, commercially focused advice to help clients resolve disputes efficiently
About You
We're interested in speaking with lawyers who have:
- 2–4 years' post-admission experience in commercial litigation, dispute resolution or a related practice area
- Strong legal research, analytical and drafting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
- A client-focused approach with the ability to build trusted relationships
- Sound commercial judgement and strong problem-solving capabilities
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team
- A proactive, professional attitude and commitment to delivering high-quality work
- The discretion and judgement required to manage sensitive and confidential matters
