Senior Associate – Competition, Consumer & Regulatory | Sydney or Melbourne

The Opportunity
An exciting opening exists for a Senior Associate to join a leading Competition, Consumer & Regulatory (CCR) team. This role offers exposure to some of Australia’s most high-profile and complex matters, including mergers, ACCC investigations, enforcement actions, and competition litigation. You’ll work alongside highly regarded partners and senior lawyers, with the opportunity to specialise while also building a strong foundation across the full spectrum of CCR work.

About the Practice
This premier practice is recognised for its involvement in many of the major mergers, competition and consumer investigations, prosecutions, and access disputes in Australia. The team regularly represents clients before the ACCC, Australian Competition Tribunal, Australian Energy Regulator, Federal Court and High Court. With a collaborative national structure, lawyers gain exposure to a diverse range of partners, matters, and industries, ensuring a stimulating and career-defining experience.

The Role
As a Senior Associate, you will:

  • Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.

  • Act in competition and consumer litigation, including defending allegations of anti-competitive conduct.

  • Assist clients with ACCC investigations, enforcement action, and immunity applications.

  • Advise on access undertakings and arrangements in regulated industries.

  • Provide guidance on marketing, advertising and consumer law compliance.

  • Conduct reviews of contractual terms and develop compliance programs.

  • Play a key role in managing large matters and leading junior lawyers.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in competition and consumer law, ideally gained at a top-tier, international or specialist firm, or from a competition agency.

  • Strong matter management skills and the ability to lead teams.

  • A growth mindset with ambition to progress as both a lawyer and leader.

  • Ability to build client relationships and internal networks.
