A leading national commercial law firm is seeking an experienced Corporate & Commercial lawyer with strong competition expertise to join its Sydney office during a period of sustained growth.
This role sits within a well-established national Corporate & Commercial practice and has a particular focus on competition and consumer law in transactional contexts, including upcoming and evolving ACCC merger reforms. The position also involves a broad range of commercial work, with a strong emphasis on technology, data and complex commercial agreements.
You will work closely with partners across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra on high-quality, complex and often cross-border matters, advising clients across diverse and fast-growing sectors.
Advising on competition and consumer law issues in M&A and commercial transactions
Supporting public and private M&A (domestic and cross-border)
Advising on merger clearance and regulatory reform developments
Drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements
Advising on software licensing, SaaS, data protection and technology contracts
Providing strategic, commercially focused advice to clients
Mentoring and supervising junior lawyers and contributing to team leadership
Working directly with clients and managing matters autonomously
7+ years PAE in corporate, commercial or regulatory law
Strong background in competition and consumer law, ideally within transactional environments
Experience gained in a mid-tier, national or specialist corporate/M&A firm
Excellent drafting, technical and analytical skills
Confident communicator with a client-facing mindset
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Enjoys working collaboratively in a national team environment
