Associate / Senior Associate – Construction & Infrastructure (Front-End & Back-End)About the Role A highly regarded, progressive firm in the Sydney CBD is seeking an ambitious Construction Lawyer (Associate or Senior Associate level) to join its high-performing Construction & Infrastructure practice. This is a rare, truly balanced "end-to-end" role offering equal exposure to front-end advisory, contract drafting, and back-end dispute resolution.
You will work closely with two market-leading partners, handling high-value matters for a sophisticated client base that includes multinational corporations, government agencies, state-owned corporations, listed companies, and local councils.
Key Responsibilities - Front-End Drafting & Negotiation: Partner with developers, principals, head contractors, and building professionals to draft, review, and negotiate bespoke and standard-form construction contracts.
- Contract Administration: Provide strategic "mid-stream" project advice, assisting clients with the preparation of contractual notices, payment claims, and payment schedules.
- Dispute Resolution & Security of Payment: Manage construction-related litigation and adjudications across multiple jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court, Federal Court, and cross-border disputes.
- Expert Engagement: Collaborate closely with engineers, building consultants, and technical experts to build robust evidentiary cases for contested matters.
About You - Experience: 3–7 years of Post-Admission Experience (PQE) within a dedicated private practice construction team.
- Technical Breadth: Demonstrated experience in both front-end drafting and back-end litigation, or a strong background in one area with a genuine willingness to learn and diversify.
- Admission: Open to local talent as well as New Zealand-qualified candidates looking to transition into the Australian market.
- Commercial Mindset: Ability to deliver proactive, pragmatic solutions that align with the fast-paced commercial drivers of the construction and property sectors.
