Corporate & Commercial Associate

Corporate & Commercial Associate

About the Role
We are currently partnering with a premier, full-service commercial law firm to secure a talented Corporate & Commercial Associate to join their high-performing team. While the firm is highly regarded for its top-tier client base, this role offers a refreshing alternative to the rigid, high-pressure environments of traditional major city firms.
The position sits predominantly within the Corporate & Commercial Group. You will have the unique opportunity to work across a broad range of high-value matters, receiving direct work, support, and mentorship from four leading Principals in the group. Because major corporate transactions often cross over into real estate, any existing property experience will be highly regarded, and you will have full, fluid access to support from the firm's dedicated property team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Corporate M&A: Assist in running mid-market and major mergers and acquisitions, from structuring and due diligence through to completion.
  • Corporate Governance & Advisory: Advise private clients, large corporations, Government Business Enterprises (GBEs), and state-owned corporations on corporate structuring, compliance, and governance.
  • Commercial Contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate a sophisticated suite of commercial agreements, procurement contracts, and IT/IP agreements.
  • Corporate Real Estate: Assist with the property-related aspects of corporate transactions, including lease reviews, property due diligence, and asset sales.
  • Collaboration: Work closely across both the corporate and property groups on aligned, multi-disciplinary transaction streams.

About You
  • Experience: 3–5+ years of Post-Admission Experience (PQE) specializing in corporate and commercial law within private practice.
  • Technical Skills: A strong commercial background with proven experience handling M&A transactions and complex commercial contracts.
  • Bonus Skills: Prior exposure to property law or corporate real estate is a strong bonus, though not essential.
  • Mindset: An ambitious, collaborative professional with strong communication skills who enjoys direct client interaction and multi-principal support.

The Environment & Benefits
This firm is celebrated for its progressive workplace culture, proving that you can work on complex, state-significant mandates while maintaining genuine work-life balance.
  • Sustainable Performance: A highly manageable budget of 6.5 billable hours per day, with standard lifestyle-friendly hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Flexibility: Modern hybrid working arrangements supporting 1 day WFH per week.
  • Relocation Support: A $5,000 relocation bonus is on offer for candidates moving from interstate or making the move across from New Zealand.
  • Parental Leave: A highly supportive 16-week paid parental leave policy.
  • Clear Progression: Deep, un-siloed exposure to multiple firm principals, providing a fast-tracked and transparent pathway for career advancement.

To Apply
If you are looking to elevate your corporate practice within a highly supportive, leading mid-tier firm that values your lifestyle as much as your billable output, please reach out to us for a strictly confidential discussion.
