Corporate Senior Associate (Syd)
Corporate Senior Associate | Sydney
Work directly with the people behind the capital.
Most corporate lawyers spend their careers several steps removed from the people whose capital is actually at stake. This opportunity offers something different: direct access to founders, family offices, private investors and business owners, advising on their most significant commercial decisions while building long-term trusted relationships.
Our client is seeking an experienced Corporate Senior Associate to join a growing private capital and corporate practice with a genuine pathway toward partnership. This is an opportunity to move beyond transactional execution and become a strategic adviser to clients across the full investment lifecycle.
The Opportunity
You will work across a sophisticated mix of ongoing advisory and transactional matters, including:
- Advising family offices and private capital groups on investment structures, governance and strategic transactions.
- Private M&A, including share and asset acquisitions, divestments and shareholders' agreements on both buy-side and sell-side transactions.
- Equity capital markets, including private capital raisings, venture capital investments, IPOs and secondary raisings.
- Cross-border matters through established referral relationships with leading international firms.
This practice is distinguished by its focus on long-term advisory relationships rather than purely transactional work, providing exposure to clients who value commercial judgement, discretion and trusted advice.
About You
You will ideally have:
- 5+ years' PQE in corporate law with experience in private M&A, capital raisings and/or capital markets.
- Experience managing transactions with increasing autonomy and confidence in leading client relationships.
- Strong drafting skills and a sound understanding of the Corporations Act, ASX Listing Rules and private treaty transactions.
- Commercially minded communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with sophisticated clients.
- A genuine interest in business development and contributing to the growth of a successful practice.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This role offers significantly more than a traditional corporate practice.
You will gain direct exposure to successful founders, family offices and private investors, working closely with an established practitioner recognised for an exceptional network across Australia's business community. Over time, those relationships become part of your own professional network.
You will also have the opportunity to:
- Work directly with senior leadership in a low-leverage team structure.
- Develop meaningful relationships with principals rather than intermediaries.
- Gain first-hand experience in practice development, including client strategy, referrals, thought leadership and business development.
- Progress within a genuine merit-based environment where responsibility grows alongside your capability.
- Build a long-term pathway toward partnership.
What's on Offer
- Genuine career progression based on merit.
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements (3:2 model).
- Generous leave benefits, including purchased leave, parental leave and performance reward leave.
- A collaborative and down-to-earth culture.
- The opportunity to join one of Australia's leading corporate practices while developing a market-leading private capital practice.
