The Opportunity

A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced Special Counsel to join its established Commercial Litigation practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-quality matters with a particular focus on cyber-related disputes and advisory work, within a collaborative and well-resourced team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic, commercial legal advice to clients

  • Managing litigation and dispute resolution matters with a cyber focus

  • Reviewing and applying relevant case law and legislative developments

  • Conducting detailed legal research and producing clear, practical advice

  • Managing competing priorities and delivering work efficiently

  • Developing a strong understanding of client operations and business strategy

  • Building and maintaining client relationships, including involvement in business development

  • Mentoring and supervising junior lawyers

  • Maintaining CPD and MCLE requirements


About You

  • 7+ years’ PQE with a background in litigation and/or insurance

  • Demonstrated experience in cyber matters (essential)

  • Ability to manage matters autonomously and oversee large document-heavy files

  • Strong commercial judgement and client-focused problem-solving skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and time management

  • Clear, plain-English communication style

  • Confidence managing client expectations and delivering to tight turnaround times

  • Interest in building a long-term career within a cohesive, high-performing team

  • Previous exposure to business development and client relationship management
