Employment Lawyer – Associate / Senior Associate | Sydney

Workplace Relations & Employment Law | Advisory + Dispute Resolution | 3–8+ PQE

A well-regarded legal team in Sydney is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer – Associate / Senior Associate to join its growing practice. You’ll work closely with an expert senior practitioner and a collaborative team, advising on a broad range of workplace relations, employment and safety law matters.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an employment law specialist to take on greater responsibility, expand client-facing skills, and play a pivotal role in high-quality advisory and disputation work.


The Opportunity

In this role, you will advise and represent clients on matters including (but not limited to):

  • Workplace relations, performance management and termination matters

  • Unfair dismissal, discrimination and adverse action claims

  • Employment contracts and restraint issues

  • Industrial relations and enterprise bargaining

  • Workplace investigations and compliance

  • WHS-related disputes and prosecutions

  • Representation at conferences, mediations and tribunals

You will work with a diverse client base across industry sectors and will be involved in both strategic advisory and dispute resolution work.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing clear, strategic employment law advice

  • Drafting legal opinions, advices, pleadings and correspondence

  • Managing complex files from advice through to resolution

  • Representing clients before courts and tribunals

  • Conducting workplace investigations and preparing reports

  • Briefing and collaborating with counsel

  • Building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders

  • Supporting business development initiatives


About You

To excel in this role, you will ideally have:

  • 3–8+ years’ post-admission experience in employment law or workplace relations

  • Strong technical skills with excellent drafting and advocacy capabilities

  • Experience handling both advisory and litigated matters

  • Capability to run files with autonomy and handle client engagement confidently

  • A commercial mindset and client-focused approach

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A collaborative and proactive team-oriented style

Experience in private practice and exposure to industrial relations or WHS matters is highly valued.
