An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated employment and industrial relations lawyer to join a nationally recognised practice with a strong pipeline of complex, high-quality work. You’ll be part of a collaborative and collegiate team, working alongside experienced leaders in the field, with direct access to clients and ongoing mentorship to accelerate your development.
You’ll work on a broad variety of employment law, industrial relations, and discrimination matters across sectors including health, education, finance, manufacturing, and construction. The team is known for delivering strategic advice and exceptional representation in courts and tribunals, including the Fair Work Commission, the Federal Circuit and Family Court, and the Federal Court of Australia.
You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of matters and client relationships, while developing technical expertise through hands-on involvement in major disputes and advisory projects.
Advising employers on workplace strategy, risk, compliance, performance and conduct
Representing clients in unfair dismissal, adverse action, discrimination, and industrial disputes
Drafting court and tribunal documents, including affidavits, applications, and submissions
Managing litigation files with guidance from senior lawyers
Engaging directly with clients on day-to-day employment law queries
Contributing to internal knowledge sharing and mentoring junior team members
Participating in training, BD activities, and thought leadership
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
2–4 years post-admission experience in employment law or industrial relations
Strong drafting skills and working knowledge of civil procedure and tribunal processes
Experience in litigation and managing your own matters (or strong interest to grow into this)
Ability to provide clear, concise, and commercial advice to clients
Sound time management, autonomy and a strong sense of accountability
A genuine passion for employment law and team-based legal work
A proactive, “can-do” mindset and willingness to learn from industry leaders
