Lawyer – Workplace Law & Culture (1–3 PQE)

About the Role We are currently partnering with a highly respected, progressive mid-tier firm in the Sydney CBD to secure an ambitious Employment Lawyer (1–3 years PQE) to join their high-performing Workplace Law & Culture team. This role has arisen purely due to organic growth and represents a fantastic opportunity to move away from rigid, top-tier silos into a warm, innovative, and highly collaborative environment.

Working alongside recognized market leaders in employment, workplace relations, discrimination, and work health and safety (WHS) law, you will service a highly sophisticated and broad client portfolio. This includes major private sector corporations alongside local, state, and Commonwealth government departments, ensuring incredible variety in your daily practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advisory & Industrial Law: Deliver practical, high-quality advice to employer clients on complex employment relations, industrial law, modern awards, and compliance matters.

  • Dispute Resolution: Assist on front-end and back-end disputation, managing workflows across unfair dismissals, general protections, and discrimination claims.

  • Workflow Management: Actively prioritize tasks and manage file progression in strict alignment with client deadlines and business requirements.

  • Collaborative Support: Work closely with accessible partners and senior associates on large-scale, complex workplace strategies and litigation.

  • Client Service: Act as a reliable and clear point of contact for HR managers, executives, and government stakeholders, providing solution-driven advice.

About You

  • Experience: 1–3 years of Post-Admission Experience (PQE) with a solid, demonstrated background specializing in employment and industrial law.

  • Background: Proven experience gained within a reputable Australian private practice environment is highly desirable.

  • Technical Rigor: Good technical legal skills, a sharp eye for detail, and a genuine passion for workplace law.

  • Attributes: Self-motivated, collaborative, and possessing excellent time management skills to effectively meet competing deadlines.
