An exceptional opportunity has arisen at a leading global law firm for an Associate (1–4 years’ PQE) to join their high-performing Environment & Planning team, part of a top-tier Commercial Real Estate practice in Sydney.
This role offers an unparalleled chance to work on market-shaping matters that support Australia’s renewable energy transition. You'll be engaged in a unique blend of advisory, transactional and strategic litigation work across some of the country’s most significant and complex energy and infrastructure projects.
You’ll be joining a nationally and globally integrated team with access to cutting-edge matters and a world-class client base. Projects include:
Renewable energy developments (wind farms, solar, pumped hydro)
Infrastructure and major projects (data centres, automated warehousing)
Strategic litigation involving environmental approvals, climate risk, and greenwashing
Environmental markets, carbon credits, and sustainability reporting
Planning law, contaminated land, compulsory acquisition, and more
You'll be involved in high-impact work, from engaging with key regulators and stakeholders to contributing to landmark cases in environment and climate litigation.
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
1–4 years’ PQE in environment, planning, or major projects (experience in renewables or tech infrastructure highly regarded)
Experience at a top-tier or international firm preferred (tipstaff or court experience a bonus)
Strong academics (distinction average and above), with relevant electives in environmental, international, or administrative law
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver strategic advice to high-level clients
A genuine interest in environmental law, public policy, and Australia’s transition to clean energy
Confidence working across multiple jurisdictions and within cross-border teams
An entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to help shape the future of environment law in Australia
