Family Lawyer – 3+ Years PAE | Established Sydney Practice

The firm has built a strong reputation for delivering trusted legal advice and outstanding results across a broad range of practice areas, including Business & Commercial, Criminal, Family Law, Litigation, Probate & Estate Management, Property Law, and Wills & Estate Planning.
Family Law is a core and expanding area of the practice, supported by a diverse and loyal client base.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and capable Family Lawyer with a minimum of 3 years post-admission experience to take the next step in their career. You’ll manage files from start to finish, working autonomously while benefiting from the guidance of experienced senior practitioners and support staff.
You’ll advise clients across the full spectrum of family law matters, including:
Parenting and property matters
Spousal maintenance and child support
Financial agreements
Urgent and interim applications
Experience in mediation and alternative dispute resolution will be highly regarded, as will confidence in preparing and running matters in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
Key Responsibilities:
Taking detailed client instructions and developing case strategies
Drafting and settling court documents and correspondence
Briefing and instructing counsel
Negotiating with counterparties
Preparing for and attending mediations, conciliation conferences, and hearings
Managing matters efficiently to resolution
You’ll also collaborate with colleagues across other practice areas on matters involving trusts, commercial structures, and estates.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Minimum 3 years PAE in Family Law
Strong technical knowledge of the Family Law Act, rules, and practice directions
Proven experience managing a varied family law caseload end-to-end
Excellent drafting skills (affidavits, applications, minutes of orders, financial statements, binding financial agreements, etc.)
Court experience, including interlocutory and directions hearings
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach
Excellent organisational and time management skills
A calm, professional manner and practical approach to negotiation and settlement
Experience with mediation, FDR, and the Federal Circuit and Family Court e-filing systems (highly regarded)
