About the Role We are currently partnering with a premier legal practice on the Gold Coast to secure an ambitious Family Law Associate. This is a brilliant opportunity for a dedicated family lawyer to join a high-performing team in Ashmore, QLD, currently undergoing an exciting growth phase, providing a direct platform for rapid career progression within the firm. Reporting directly to the Practice Director—a highly regarded specialist in the field—you will take full carriage of your own files from day one. This role is designed for a practitioner who values deep client interaction, autonomy, and a sophisticated mix of both parenting and complex property matters. We are open to considering motivated, more junior practitioners (from 2+ years PQE) who possess strong commercial acumen and are ready to elevate their practice.
Key Responsibilities
File Carriage: Take independent carriage of a varied portfolio of family law matters from initial consultation through to final resolution.
Property & Parenting Split: Manage a diverse caseload involving complex parenting disputes and high-value property settlements.
Financial Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate sophisticated financial documents, including complex Binding Financial Agreements (BFAs).
Client Interaction: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering strategic, commercial, and empathetic legal advice throughout the lifecycle of their matter.
Litigation & Advocacy: Formulate case strategies and represent clients across all stages of the litigation process within the FCFCOA, including instructing Counsel.
About You
Experience: Minimum 2+ years of Post-Admission Experience (PQE) specializing in Family Law within an Australian private practice environment.
Financial Acumen: A strong financial acumen is a MUST. You must be comfortable navigating complex financial structures, balance sheets, and asset pools.
Technical Skills: Proven exposure to drafting complex BFAs and a solid understanding of the Family Law Act.
Attributes: A confident communicator with exceptional organizational skills who thrives on direct client engagement and takes a proactive, solutions-driven approach to conflict.
