Financial Services Regulatory Lawyer | Sydney
A leading national corporate practice is looking for a talented lawyer (around 2–3 years’ PQE) to join a high-performing Financial Services Regulatory team known for its collaborative, technically excellent and supportive culture. Work directly with a market-leading partner advising a diverse mix of banks, fintechs, funds and corporate clients on complex financial services regulation and related transactions.
The opportunity
In this role, you will advise on:
• AFSL/ACL licensing, conduct obligations, breach reporting, DDO and unfair contract terms
• Governance frameworks, accountability regimes (FAR) and engagement with ASIC/APRA
• Risk and compliance frameworks, policies and regulatory reform projects
• Financial services issues in major corporate transactions and due diligence
• Emerging digital finance, payments regulation and fintech licensing matters
You’ll join a close-knit team that values mentorship, development and social connection, and work on both standalone regulatory advice and regulatory aspects of corporate M&A and fundraising.
About you
• Around 2–3 years’ PQE with financial services regulation exposure
• Background from a top-tier law firm, regulator (ASIC, APRA) or Big 4 consultancy (ideal but not essential)
• Familiarity with key FSR frameworks, strong drafting skills and commercial mindset
• Enthusiastic, team-focused and proactive in approach
• Keen to build expertise and contribute to a vibrant, high-impact practice
