A dynamic commercial law practice is seeking a Senior Associate with strong expertise in financial services, fintech and blockchain to join their high-performing Sydney team. About the Role
Join a thriving Financial Services & Fintech practice that advises leading domestic and international clients on the legal and regulatory frameworks shaping Australia’s digital economy. You'll work on complex matters involving:

  • Blockchain technology, digital assets and payments innovation

  • Market entry and licensing for fintechs and financial institutions

  • Regulatory compliance (AFSL, AML/CTF, sanctions, privacy, DDO)

  • High-stakes disputes and regulatory investigations

  • Cross-border matters involving crypto regulation and new tech

This is a varied and strategic role offering direct client engagement, file autonomy and scope to help grow the practice’s national footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal and regulatory advice across the fintech, financial services and digital assets sectors

  • Manage complex client projects, disputes and licensing matters

  • Develop trusted client relationships and lead matters end-to-end

  • Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to a supportive, collaborative culture

  • Drive business development initiatives and represent the team in thought leadership

About You
You are a confident and curious financial services lawyer with:

  • 6+ years’ post-admission experience, ideally in private practice or in-house

  • Strong understanding of fintech, blockchain, payments and emerging tech

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and disputes

  • Commercial nous and excellent communication skills

  • An appetite to innovate and contribute to a nationally recognised practice
