The Opportunity
An outstanding opportunity exists for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join a leading General Insurance team. This role offers exposure to complex, high-value matters, including professional indemnity, construction, general liability, insurance policy advice and coverage disputes. You’ll be working across a mix of government, private sector, and international clients, with the chance to contribute to landmark cases including large catastrophic losses and class actions.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
Managing and overseeing a diverse caseload of professional indemnity and liability claims.
Advising clients on insurance policy issues and coverage disputes.
Representing clients in negotiations, mediations and court proceedings.
Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, fostering their development.
Delivering clear, commercially focused legal advice throughout all stages of the litigation process.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
A Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and a current NSW practising certificate.
5+ years’ PQE with experience in professional indemnity, liability claims, and insurance policy coverage disputes.
Strong technical knowledge of Australian tort law, civil procedure, and relevant legislation.
Experience mentoring and supervising junior lawyers.
Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
A commercial mindset and client-focused approach.
