Associate/Senior Associate – Insurance Litigation | 3+ PAE | Cairns (with Brisbane Partner Support)
A rare opportunity has arisen for a confident and experienced insurance lawyer to join a well-established national firm in its growing Cairns office. With direct support from Brisbane-based partners and access to high-quality files across multiple lines of insurance, this is a fantastic step forward for a motivated practitioner seeking local autonomy and national scale.
The Opportunity
Work closely with experienced partners on a broad mix of matters including motor vehicle accident, public liability, historical abuse, and general liability claims. This role offers strong file ownership, exposure to strategic litigation work, and the chance to build relationships with long-standing insurer clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
Managing your own portfolio of litigated and advisory matters across multiple insurance lines
Preparing advice on liability, quantum and strategy
Drafting pleadings, managing discovery and briefing counsel
Collaborating remotely with a strong national team and locally with Cairns-based colleagues
Helping shape the growth of the Cairns office while enjoying hands-on mentorship and professional development
About You
3+ years PAE in insurance law, ideally within a defendant practice
Confident communicator with excellent drafting and analytical skills
Ability to work autonomously while being supported by a collaborative team structure
Client-focused approach and sound commercial judgment
