Insurance Senior Associate (Melb)

Insurance Associate / Senior Associate | General Insurance (Casualty & PI)

The Opportunity Join the largest legal partnership in Australia within their highly-regarded General Insurance practice. This isn't your typical "top-tier" grind; this firm is built on a rapid-growth model that prioritizes commercial results over rigid traditional structures.

Working alongside industry-leading Partners, you will handle a diverse portfolio of Casualty and Professional Indemnity claims. This role is designed for a practitioner who wants the autonomy of managing their own files while still benefiting from the mentorship of specialists and the support of a junior team.

Your New Role

  • Defence & Coverage: Act for leading Australian underwriters and self-insured corporates.

  • Diverse Caseload: Manage a mix of public liability, product liability, professional indemnity, and third-party property damage claims.

  • Statutory Claims: Handle matters involving workers' compensation and statutory authorities.

  • Strategy & Advice: Provide high-level coverage and risk management advice.

  • Client Management: Enjoy direct client access and genuine involvement in business development and marketing.

What’s in it for You?

  • True Meritocracy: A unique model where promotion is based solely on contribution and merit, not years of service.

  • Unrivalled Progression: Use "180-day career forecasting sessions" to fast-track your path to Senior Associate or Partner.

  • Mentorship: Benefit from a low Solicitor-to-Partner ratio, ensuring you aren't just another number in a massive pool.

  • Work-Life Balance: Genuine flexible work arrangements and generous leave policies (including purchased and performance reward leave).

  • Modern Environment: State-of-the-art Melbourne CBD offices with premium end-of-trip facilities and a vibrant social culture.

About You

To be successful in this high-performing team, you will ideally possess:

  • 4+ years PAE (Post Admission Experience) in General Insurance.

  • Proven Expertise: Substantial experience in casualty or professional indemnity claims, including defence and coverage advice.

  • Autonomy: The ability to run a file load independently while effectively delegating to junior staff.

  • Communication: Sharp, plain-English writing skills and the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

  • Soft Skills: A collaborative "can-do" attitude and the interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with insurers and policyholders.
