Lawyer / Associate – Health Law (Defendant)

A well-established national firm with a strong reputation in health, insurance, and government law is seeking a talented Lawyer or Associate with at least 3 years’ post-admission experience to join its leading Health Law team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside highly regarded senior practitioners, supporting medical professionals and institutions in a broad range of sensitive and complex matters.

About the Role

In this role, you'll represent a wide range of healthcare clients including medical practitioners and clinics in matters such as:

  • Disciplinary proceedings

  • Coronial inquests

  • Hospital inquiries

  • Employment-related issues within health settings

  • Broader medico-legal defence work

The work is diverse, challenging, and meaningful—with strong mentoring, client contact, and court exposure.

About You

  • 3+ years’ PQE, ideally in defendant health law, or relevant experience in criminal, administrative, or public law with an interest in transitioning to health law

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong file management and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Client-focused mindset and ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism

  • A practical problem-solver who is organised, detail-oriented, and adaptable
