About this Role
Are you passionate about intellectual property law and driven by scientific and technological advancement? We’re looking for a qualified Patent Attorney to join a highly regarded team specialising in Chemistry and Biology/Biotech across Australia.
You’ll work closely with high-profile clients on cutting-edge technologies, playing a key role in protecting and managing their intellectual property assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, file and prosecute patent applications across multiple jurisdictions
Conduct patentability, infringement, and validity searches and provide legal opinions
Advise clients on IP strategy, portfolio development, and commercialisation pathways
Represent clients in patent disputes and before relevant IP bodies
Liaise with inventors, technical teams, and stakeholders to understand and protect innovations
Stay across updates in IP legislation and regulations, particularly in biotech and life sciences
What We’re Looking For:
Qualified Patent Attorney in Australia
Degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Engineering, or similar)
2–3+ years’ experience in patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management
Exceptional analytical and written communication skills
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Client-centric approach and strong relationship-building skills
Bonus Points For:
Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical patent work
Familiarity with IP systems such as Inprotech or equivalent
