Planning & Environment Lawyer/Associate

Lawyer / Associate | Environment & Planning | Western Sydney

  • Hybrid Front-End/Back-End Role: Advisory & LEC Litigation

  • Parramatta Based: Cut the CBD commute without losing the quality of work

  • True Work-Life Balance: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm | WFH Flexibility

About the Firm

Located in the heart of the thriving Greater Western Sydney legal hub, this leading firm is a genuine alternative to the "CBD grind." Deeply embedded in the region's massive development pipeline, they offer a collegiate, down-to-earth culture where you aren't just a billing number. You will work directly with recognized specialist Partners on matters that are shaping the local skyline.

The Role

This is a rare "hybrid" position for a 2–5 year PQE Lawyer or Associate. Unlike many roles that force a choice between litigation and advisory, this position offers high-level exposure to both.

You will manage diverse matters ranging from large-scale residential developments to complex regulatory disputes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • LEC Litigation: Manage Class 1 merit appeals, Class 4 civil enforcements, and criminal prosecutions.

  • Planning Advisory: Strategic advice on DAs, VPAs, and the interpretation of LEPs and SEPPs.

  • Advocacy: Appear in the Land and Environment Court and local councils for mentions and on-site conciliations.

  • Environmental Due Diligence: Advise on contamination, biodiversity offsets, and heritage issues for major acquisitions.

About You

We are seeking an ambitious lawyer with a solid foundation in NSW planning law. If you are a Property Litigator looking to specialize in E&P, we also want to hear from you.

  • Experience: 2–5 years PQE in Environment & Planning (or strong General Property Litigation/Local Government background).

  • Technical Edge: Strong understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (NSW).

  • Analytical Skill: The ability to translate complex technical reports (acoustic, traffic, etc.) into persuasive legal arguments.

  • Admission: Admitted to practice in New South Wales.

Why Apply?

  • Balanced Hours: Typical 8:30 am – 5:30 pm workday—rare for a firm of this caliber.

  • Flexibility: 1 day per week WFH to support your lifestyle.

  • Growth: A transparent path to senior roles within a stable, thriving practice.

  • Benefits: Competitive mid-tier salary, discretionary bonus package, and 12 weeks of Parental Leave.
