Pro Bono Lawyer (Syd)

Lawyer – Pro Bono Practice | 2–3 Years PQE

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Lawyer with 2–3 years' post-qualification experience to join a growing and highly regarded pro bono practice within a leading commercial law firm.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of matters while making a meaningful contribution to individuals, charities, not-for-profit organisations and community groups. The successful candidate will enjoy direct client engagement, hands-on responsibility, and strong mentoring from experienced practitioners within a collaborative and supportive environment.


The Opportunity

The pro bono practice works across multiple areas of the firm, providing exposure to a broad range of legal matters and allowing lawyers to develop a well-rounded skillset. Matters include:

  • Charity and not-for-profit governance
  • Employment advice and disputes
  • Discrimination matters
  • Elder abuse and financial abuse
  • Commercial disputes
  • Estate planning and estate disputes
  • Property matters
  • Corporate and commercial law, intellectual property and privacy

Clients include charities, not-for-profit organisations, vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals, asylum seekers, Indigenous individuals and communities, and community legal centres.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • 2–3 years' PQE, ideally with experience in commercial litigation and/or employment law
  • A genuine interest in social justice and community-focused legal work
  • Experience, or a demonstrated interest, in working with vulnerable or distressed clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent legal research and analytical abilities
  • An enthusiasm for dispute resolution and advocacy
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work across multiple practice areas
  • A positive attitude, curiosity and openness to learning

Previous pro bono, volunteer or community legal experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.
