Lawyer – National Pro Bono Team (2–3 Years PQE)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated social justice lawyer to join a leading national law firm’s National Pro Bono Team. This role offers a unique blend of client-facing legal work and internal pro bono program leadership.
This permanent, full-time position is ideal for a lawyer with 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience, particularly in family violence, family law, or civil litigation. The role has a dual focus:
Client Work (4 days/week): Provide legal advice and representation to clients through a national charitable community legal service, assisting those who cannot access legal aid or afford private services. Areas of focus include family violence, family law, employment, credit & debt, and wills & estates.
Pro Bono Program Coordination (1 day/week): Support the firm’s pro bono initiatives, including sourcing and scoping matters, supervising legal work, running training sessions, and strengthening relationships with community legal services.

The ideal candidate will:
Hold (or be shortly eligible for) an unrestricted legal practising certificate
Have 2–3 years PQE, ideally in family law, family violence, or civil litigation
Demonstrate attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience supporting disadvantaged or marginalised clients
Show a commitment to social justice and interest in legal innovation
