Property Associate
About the Role
We are currently partnering with a highly respected, progressive commercial and property firm in Sydney to secure a dynamic Property Associate (3–5 years PQE). This role is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious lawyer ready to step away from rigid corporate structures and move into a position offering genuine autonomy, direct client ownership, and a platform to build your own practice.
Working closely with two leading Partners who are recognized authorities in property law, you will gain hands-on exposure to a diverse, high-quality portfolio of matters. The firm values entrepreneurial spirit and actively supports its lawyers in developing their own professional brand and client base.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Transactions: Manage a broad mix of commercial, industrial, and residential property transactions from initial instructions through to settlement.
Property Development: Assist on mid-to-large scale development projects, including drafting and advising on joint venture agreements, development agreements, master contracts, and complex subdivisions.
Commercial Leasing: Draft, review, and negotiate sophisticated commercial and retail leases, acting for both high-profile landlords and corporate tenants.
Advice & Compliance: Provide strategic legal advice on complex property structuring, easements, covenants, and relevant state taxes/duties.
Client Relationship Management: Act as a primary point of contact for key clients, including developers, private investors, and corporations, ensuring a seamless and high-touch service.
About You
Experience: 3–5 years of Post-Admission Experience (PQE) within a reputable private practice property team.
Technical Breadth: Strong foundational experience across commercial leasing, acquisitions, disposals, and development projects.
Mindset: Commercially astute, proactive, and driven by a desire to step into an autonomous role and actively contribute to business growth.
Communication: Exceptional negotiation and drafting skills, paired with a confident and clear communication style when advising clients.
Admission: Current Australian Practising Certificate and a solid academic record.
