An exciting opportunity is available for a Solicitor or Associate to join a leading national law firm’s Insurance & Health practice in Melbourne.

This highly regarded team acts for major insurers and corporate clients across Australia and internationally. With more than 200 specialist lawyers nationally, the practice combines deep industry expertise with strong local capability, delivering strategic and commercially focused advice across complex risk matters.


The Opportunity

You will work across public liability and general insurance matters, with a particular focus on large and complex property damage claims. The role offers exposure to high-value, technically challenging files and the opportunity to collaborate with experienced practitioners in a supportive and high-performing team.

This position suits a lawyer who is confident managing their own matters while contributing meaningfully to broader team strategy and client outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of public liability and general insurance matters

  • Handling complex property damage claims from inception through to resolution

  • Drafting pleadings, preparing evidence, and appearing in court (as appropriate)

  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships

  • Contributing to strategic case development and collaborative team initiatives


About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have demonstrated experience in litigation (insurance experience preferred)

  • Be confident managing your own file load with minimal supervision

  • Possess strong technical and analytical skills

  • Be commercially minded and solutions-focused
