Commercial Litigation | Sydney
We are working with a highly regarded litigation practice that is seeking a senior litigator to step into a pivotal role within a fast-moving and well-resourced team.
This is an opportunity for an experienced lawyer who enjoys owning matters end-to-end, driving strategy, and mentoring junior lawyers, while working closely with a supportive partner group.
You will take carriage of complex commercial litigation matters from commencement through to resolution. The work is hands-on and varied, and will see you:
Managing files autonomously from start to finish
Drafting pleadings, evidence and submissions
Shaping litigation strategy and advising clients directly
Running directions hearings and managing subpoena processes
Briefing and instructing counsel
Guiding and developing junior lawyers within the team
You will be supported by a partner, senior associates, and a broader team of capable litigators, allowing you to focus on high-value legal work while still leading from the front.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Strong, practical experience in commercial litigation, particularly in the NSW Courts and the Federal Court
A deep working knowledge of court procedure and the rules of evidence
A clear understanding of key fiduciary principles, including the second limb of Barnes v Addy
Extensive experience appearing at directions hearings and managing subpoena returns
Confidence working independently, while also mentoring and supervising junior team members
High level of autonomy and responsibility
