An outstanding opportunity is available for a Tax Associate to join a highly regarded global law firm with a growing Sydney-based tax practice. This role offers exposure to complex, multijurisdictional matters with a strong focus on stamp duty and GST, as well as land tax and customs duty.
You will work closely with senior lawyers and partners advising Australian and multinational clients on their key indirect tax risks and transactions. The role provides a mix of advisory, transactional and dispute work, and genuine opportunities to shape your long-term career in tax.
You can expect:
Hands-on involvement in stamp duty, GST, land tax and customs duty matters
Exposure to cross-border transactions and global client teams
Regular collaboration with colleagues across Corporate, Employment, Banking & Finance, Litigation, IP and Real Estate
Direct client contact and meaningful responsibility from day one
The Sydney tax team is well established and growing, comprising multiple partners and a strong cohort of senior associates and associates. The practice covers:
Corporate and international tax
Funds taxation
Ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families
Transfer pricing
Indirect taxes and employment taxes

You will ideally have:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Australian indirect taxes
Demonstrated experience in stamp duty and GST (highly regarded)
Background in a top-tier or leading international law firm (or Big 4 accounting firm with relevant qualifications)
Strong technical, drafting and commercial skills
A client-focused mindset and interest in business development
Excellent analytical, research and communication skills
Initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in local and international teams
A willingness to learn and to mentor junior team members as your experience grows
