Special Counsel – National Tax Practice (Front-End Focus)
About the role
A leading national commercial law firm is seeking an experienced Special Counsel to join its National Tax Practice, with a focus on front-end tax matters. This newly created position reflects the team’s continued growth and is ideally based in Sydney.
Working alongside a team of respected senior tax practitioners and supported by an experienced associate, you will play a pivotal role in servicing clients’ front-end tax needs on a national scale. The work will include advising on structuring, implementation, and specialist tax advisory matters across complex transactions.
While the primary focus is on front-end matters, there will also be opportunities to contribute to tax disputes and controversy matters as needed.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with leading practitioners and key clients on significant and sophisticated transactions.
About you
You are a highly skilled and technical tax lawyer with 7+ years’ post-admission experience (PAE) in front-end tax matters, gained within a reputable law or accounting firm. You will bring strong legal analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions for complex tax issues.
You will have:
A strong academic background in law, taxation, or accounting.
Demonstrated experience in front-end tax structuring, advisory, and implementation.
A client-focused approach and a reputation for reliability and technical excellence.
An interest in mentoring and developing junior lawyers within a collaborative team environment.
