We are currently partnering with a well-established commercial law firm to recruit an experienced Workers Compensation Lawyer for their growing Newcastle-based team. With a strong reputation in both the government and private sectors, this firm has over 70 years of experience delivering exceptional legal and commercial solutions across Australia and Asia.

About the Role & Team

This opportunity sits within a high-performing Workers Compensation team that handles a wide range of workplace injury claims, including:

  • Orthopaedic and neurological injuries

  • Catastrophic and multi-trauma cases

  • Psychological injury and stress-related claims

  • Hazardous substance exposure

The team works closely with scheme agents, treasury managed fund agents, self-insurers and specialised insurers, offering strategic advice across liability, quantum and litigation.

What You Bring

We are seeking a driven and technically strong lawyer with experience in Workers Compensation or personal injury litigation. You will ideally possess:

  • Respondent or defendant-side experience within a fast-paced legal environment

  • Strong litigation and legal research skills

  • Experience advising on liability and litigation strategy

  • A sound understanding of relevant legislation and recent reforms

  • Familiarity with recoveries processes

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • The ability to work autonomously and within a collaborative team environment
